[Hayagriva](https://github.com/typst/hayagriva) is the built-in bibliography engine in Typst. While it does support reading and writing to BibTeX files, it also has its own file standard. This file standard, as far as I can tell, is just asking, “What if BibTeX were YAML?” So it got me thinking since I use JabRef and have fully transitioned over to Typst for my work, it might be nice to have native support for the YAML file format too.

I would love to hear your thoughts: Should we add support for an additional file format?

Hi,

this is already possible. JabRef 6.0.beta 1 already provides import and export for that file format

I got the new update. The Hayagriva YML file is only supported as a Import/Export, which means I still have to maintain 2 files inside my project to take advantage of features like ctrl+s and autosave.

Yes, this is correct. JabRef’s internal library format is BibTeX/biblatex, JabRef only offer this format as import/export
