# Change the definition of a field and its dropdown list

Hello everyone,

I’m working on Jabref 5.6 and I have two questions :

- I would change the definition of certain field (the one that appears when you hover the mouse over the name of a field) or add a definition to new fields that I have added. Is that possible ? Maybe in the metadatas ?

-Secondly I would change the Type field dropdown list (in the entry named Tech Report). How can I do ?

Hi,

thanks for your questions. Unfortunately, this not yet possible.  
The types dropdown suggestions are currently hard-coded. However, you can type anything in that field.  
Jut the list with suggestions is hard-coded.

Regarding the field description, I think it would make sense to integrate this functionality in the Customize Entry types dialog.
