# Export of "Citation relations"

Hello, and sorry asking such a basic question - I haven’t managed to find some comments in previous posts. I am trying to export my entries incl. the “Citatation relations” automatically updated / provided by JabRef, but so far I am getting only the standard BibTex without this “CR” information. Is there a way to persist this for export? Thanks a lot in advance for your support.

Thank you for your question.

Some historical note: In 2020, we had the implementation ready to store **all** external citations to the bib file. However, in 2021, we decided against it ([Added support to explore citation relations by timbachmann · Pull Request #7160 · JabRef/jabref · GitHub](https://github.com/JabRef/jabref/pull/7160#issuecomment-757556724)).

Note that you can import entries by clicking a button - then, this can entry is “somehow” in your library.

There is an issue for linking the imported entry using the `cites` field ([Links to other entries - JabRef](https://docs.jabref.org/advanced/entryeditor/entrylinks)). We are working on a fix (internal link: [https://github.com/JabRef/jabref-issue-melting-pot/issues/345](https://github.com/JabRef/jabref-issue-melting-pot/issues/345))

We put the wish in our internal roadmap (non-public link [https://github.com/JabRef/jabref-issue-melting-pot/issues/346](https://github.com/JabRef/jabref-issue-melting-pot/issues/346)). Maybe, we can make a [student project](https://devdocs.jabref.org/teaching) out of it.
