# JabRef 4.1dev freezes on OpenSuse 42.2

Hello

I have tried running the latest development snapshot, 4.1 dev, which I require for PubMed searching, and JabRef freezes on my Linux box. it opens fine, and then within a minute, becomes unresponsive.

I am running OpenSuse Leap 42.2 with openjdk version “1.8.0\_151”

Any ideas?

Hi,

this is probably related to the GTK Look and Feel. Try switching to another Look and Feel in the settings.

Hi

I switched and still have problems. If I double click an entry to edit it, it is blank below except for the icons on the far left. I cannot edit. This is frustrating because JabRef up to 3.8 worked just fine.

Hello

I upgraded my system tp Leap 42.3 and it seems to be working now. I guess it was worth the pain. Installing the java dependencies on OpenSUSE takes some searching.

Good to hear that you were able to fix the issue. Since you mention your troubles installing java and javafx, could you please edit [the installation notes](https://github.com/JabRef/help.jabref.org/blob/gh-pages/en/Installation.md) so that other users have it easier to install JabRef under OpenSuse. You go to [https://github.com/JabRef/help.jabref.org/blob/gh-pages/en/Installation.md](https://github.com/JabRef/help.jabref.org/blob/gh-pages/en/Installation.md) and then click the small pencil icon (next to raw / blame / history). Then you can edit the installation file and finally click on “commit” to send the changes to us. Thanks!
