Cleaning up authors with/without middle initial

Hello! Is there a way in JabRef to clean up entries where authors may use a middle initial or not? I am currently working on a bibliometric review of a large selection of literature. One author has been identified as “HIGGS, E.” and “HIGGS, E.S.” - is there a way to update the entries to use one identifier?

Hi,

JabRef only has the Normalize names to bibtex Formatter, but there is no automated way to remove initials of middle names. Theoretically this could be two different authors.

The other option is a simple “Find and Replace”. (Edit -> Find and Replace or CTRL+ R
