My name is Kartik Deep Gautam, and I’m a pre final-year undergraduate student planning to apply to Google Summer of Code 2026 with Jabref
Over the past few days, I’ve been exploring the Jabref ecosystem and I’m currently setting up the development environment to begin contributing. I’ve read through the contribution guidelines and am familiarizing myself with the codebase and existing issues.
I would appreciate guidance on:
- Which repositories or components are good starting points for new contributors, and
- Whether there are specific areas where contributions would be especially valuable in the coming months.
My goal is to start with small but meaningful contributions and gradually take on more responsibility while actively participating in discussions and code reviews.
