Building custom export filter: how to insert a tab?

I am building an export filter, producing CSV that I want to import in XLS.
As a column separator. I would like to use a tab (since comma or semicolon etc will give conflicts for several output fields).
Is that possible, and if so, how?

Hi,

very simple
just open the layout files with an editor (e.g. notepad++ on windows) and simply press TAB between the heading and also between the fields e.g. \title <TAB> \author
JabRef treats the input file with all spaces and tabs formatted as is, e.g. it doesn’t change anything outside the defined fields or formatters.

Very simple indeed! Works like a charm, thanks.
