JabRef 5.15--2024-07-10--1eb3493
Mac OS X 15.3.2 aarch64
Java 21.0.2
JavaFX 22.0.1+7
I’m encountering a small usability issue:
When I click the red close button in the top-left corner of the JabRef window, it quits the entire application. Ideally, I’d like JabRef to just close the window, while keeping the application running in the background (similar to how many macOS apps behave).
Is there a setting or workaround to achieve this behavior? I’m not sure if this feature is supported yet, so I’m posting this under “Help”.
Linux user here, not a developer. From what I understand, “document-based” apps in MacOS typically don’t quit with the red close button (while others do), and JabRef seems to fit this description, so your question makes sense to me. JabRef has to be running to add entries using the browser plugin so there is also a practical reason to keep JabRef running in the background. I could be wrong.
As a workaround, do the Command-M and Command-H shortcuts work to minimize or hide the window?
If you want to close a library without quitting JabRef, you can do this through the File menu (screenshot from Linux, so wrong shortcuts for you).
