Show images of attached files

Sometimes you want to find some article which you read sometime ago. But the only thing you remember is that some image you would recognize was in it.
Then you open up file after file just to check if the image is in there…

One idea would be to have a collection of all images in one place where you could scroll through and open up the corresponding document.

Actually this seems to be not too hard - there are tools like pdfimages which are able to extract all images from a pdf. Then you would need to filter out some unwanted images like the publishers logo etc.
Using image similarity metrics, it would be also possible to show related images - for example show all plots.

This sounds interesting.

To just take a quick look at a PDF you can use JabRef’s internal PDF view.
From the menu: View -> Open document viewer
