Whenever I try to import a bibtex library, my keys get overwritten by JabRef’s automatic key generator. Is there a way to prevent this? I ha unchecked the ‘Overwrite existing keys’ option in the Citation key generator settings. Using JabRef v5.4 on Linux.

What do you mean by “import a bibtex library”? There is a separate option in
Preferences -> Import and Export -> Generate a new key for imported entries
Or are you just opening a library?
The sum of what I am saying is that: can you provide some more details if you are still having this issue? I am having difficulties in replicating it
