I try to use my preview style that worked under 4.3.1 in 5.0.0 also. In the preferences I can edit the preview (html) but if I click save all changes disappear. What am I doing wrong?

I cannot reproduce this under Windows 10 with the latest snapshot.
I would suggest you try the latest snapshot from here:
https://builds.jabref.org/master/
Please make a backup of your library before trying out this version.
PS: For the future, it’s more useful if you copy the whole version info from Help -> About JabRef.
