I installed JabRef 5.15 and TeXstudio 4.8.8 via Flathub. Unfortunately, the button for pushing entries to an external application did do anything. After I specified the path to the TeXstudio executable explicitly (/var/lib/flatpak/exports/bin/org.texstudio.TeXstudio) I now get an error message when clicking the button: Could not call executable ‘/var/lib/flatpak/exports/bin/org.texstudio.TeXstudio’.
Does anyone know of a solution?
For this particular use case it is recommended to use the portable (tar) version of JabRef. With that one it should work.
The snap and flatpak packages cannot interact directly with external programs (i.e. programs not contained in the package sandbox). See more information about external app compatibility at Installation | JabRef.
Thanks. I uninstalled the flatpack and downloaded the portable version of JabRef. Unfortunately, the problem persisted. However, switching to the TeXstudio AppImage fixed it.
