This post is related to this old issue, which concerned adjusting the row height for the list of entries.
I am transitioning to JabRef since it is the only reference manager that allows nesting smart groups inside smart groups in the way that good old Sente did this. Also, I love the ability to create a custom theme. So at the moment I am developing a custom theme with minimal row height. This works well but it is not possible to customise with CSS the groups pane in a similar way. So my question is if and how this could be accomplished? Could a ‘compact’ option for the groups pane be introduced? Or a way to allow modification through CSS?
Hi,
thanks for your interest in JabRef. Be aware that we planning to move away from our custom ThemeManager eventually with user customized css, since it was always a bit buggy and insufficient. There are multiple options, like AtlantaFX or Transit by Pixelduke or a custom css with accent colors, or something completly different. For that reason, we try to remove every hardcoded styling (probably in the groups pane still an issue) and completly to move to css. You are welcome to contribute to that.
Thank you for your reply, this is very good to hear. Unfortunately, I would not be able to contribute to removing current hardcoded styling (I know how to work with CCS but that’s it). Would be happy to share any theme though once I have progressed more.
