Manual JabRef 3.8 - LibreOffice 6.1 Connection Settings for Debian 10

On Toshiba Satellite C50-A I0011, Debian 10 OS, I am trying to connect JabRef 3.8 (prefer this to 5.2 as it comes bundled and does not pose errors) to Libre Office (6.1, default version) using manual connection.
Default settings do not work:
Path to LO executable: /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice
Path to LO Libraries: /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/classes

I tried numerous variants like:
Path to LO executable: /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin
Path to LO Libraries: /usr/lib/libreoffice/

To no avail.

Can someone help me with correct paths on Debiian, linux for the connection to work ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

(prefer this to 5.2 as it comes bundled and does not pose errors)

Have you checked the newest release 5.3? What errors do you encounter?

Issue with v. 5+ are large footprint (making operation slow), and Java errors like following (on v. 5.3):
"Uncaught Exception Occurred in Thread [JavaFX-application Thread5.main]

Could you please open an issue at our github tracker with the full error message and the stacktrace?
Regading the performance: Most people reported that disabling autocomplete helped to improve the performance.

Thanks, Chris. Much appreciate your reply.
The java error on my system is random. I will follow your advice next time I encounter it.
Meanwhile, would be good to know the connection settings for those who prefer older, lighter version, given that Debian 10 still does not offer JabRef > 3.8
