Review backup window requiring manual click to accept changes on 1K records

Jabref froze on me the last time i used it while trying to run clean up entries. When I opened it next, i got the popup window about a different back up asking me to review changes. I said okay and it generated a list with what I think is my entire library or most of it, and I’m having to click accept on each one individually. It’s also a bit unclear to me what the two states are that it’s showing, In JabRef and On disk, so I don’t even know what it’s doing when I click accept or deny. Searching for documentation on the backup review process generates no results. I don’t want to delete changes I made purposefully, but it’s kind of ridiculous to have to click through every single file in my library just to correct it.

Can you tell me what the two statuses mean, and what clicking accept, deny and merge actually does, and then how I can review or action changes in bulk?

thanks

Sorry, I am about to leave the house and don’t have time to support you fully, but since we cannot rule out that data has gone lost, I will treat this as a seriuos issue and give an instant reply. Please read Automatic Backup (.sav and .bak) and Autosave | JabRef
Find the location of your backup files, create a copy of them and store them in a save location (basically a different folder).

I don’t know what version of JabRef you are running, but I would have to check, if the 6.0alpha3 treats this in bulk. I am not sure right now.

In any case. If you have the new library and the old library, you can open the file with a diff tool, like git or meld and check for the difference, in case JabRef’s native diff tooling is not good enough.

Hope it works out! I will check back earliest on weekend.

On Disc is the old file on your harddrive (and I think the backup file).
