For many texts, to save space, I use short dois. It would be great, if JabRef could automatically retrieve existing short dois, or even push dois to the shortdoi service and retrieve newly generated short dois. I could also well imagine to ask in the preferences whether short or long dois are preferred.
Or I could well imagine to use a contextual operation in which I mark several entries at once and context-click on swap long and short dois.
