I would like a feature to allow the database to sync the referenced PDF files for an entry on a central location, allowing users to get those files from their location.
Which “database” are you talking about? MySQL, PostgreSQL or Oracle? Or something else?
You already can share pdf files if you share the folder they are in via other drop-box like tools, e.g. Syncthing. There are a multitude of alternatives: https://alternativeto.net/software/syncthing/
I was working with PostgreSQL.
I found an alternative for now: a remote folder with user/password access.
