Proper way of updating Jabref on OSX

Hi,

I’m running Jabref 3.3 under macOS and I want to update to the latest version. But I can’t find a way to update inside the software. So I wonder what is the right way to update Jabref?

Hi @sudo!

The is no possibility to do an “in-app” update. You have to install the new version - but all settings will be kept (or updated if necessary).

Thanks for your answer! Should I remove the old version first or can I just install the new version over the old one?

I don’t exactly know the behavior of the MacOS X installer, but I think the old version is automatically uninstalled if the new one is installed in the same directory as the old version. (At least this is the behavior for the Windows installers)
